Screening of Blood Quantum March 30

Kristopher Woofter, Rebecca Million and Ben Lander have organized a free event open to the public for Indigenous Peoples Week. The film Blood Quantumby local Indigenous filmmaker and Dawson graduate Jeff Barnaby will be screened and then Jeff will be there to take questions afterwards.

The event will be in the Dawson Theatre on March 30 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Thanks to Dawson colleagues who contributed to the success of Intercollegiate Ped Days 2022, which took place Jan. 12-14 online. More than 50 presentations were given and over 700 participants from the English-language CEGEPs attended. The theme was Systemic Transformation: Developing Our Inclusive Practices. Resources will be available for a limited time on the Linkr site: . The Linkr site is free but you need to request to join using your college email account. Open invitation to contribute to Beyond Orange Shirt Day at Dawson

For anyone who would like to get involved in Beyond Orange Shirt Day at Dawson, First Peoples Centre Coordinator Tiawenti:non Canadian and other staff members will be hosting an open meeting to begin planning for First Peoples Week 2022.

First Peoples Week is an annual celebration of Indigenous knowledges and cultures on campus. This year it will take place from Monday, March 28 to Friday, April 1. The first planning meeting will be in the Rose Lounge (7C.5) at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2021.


Plan a Blanket Exercise for next semester

As a part of the 做厙勛圖 Peace Centre's commitment to decolonization and Indigenization, we will continue to offer organizational and financial support to faculty to host an Indigenous Elder to facilitate a Blanket Exercise in their classroom in the Winter 2022 semester. The Blanket Exercise is an interactive experiential exercise which enables students to understand Indigenous history on Turtle Island (Anowarako:wa) as well as the legacy of colonization.
